Traders Club: A Cross-Regional and Cross-Time Difference Themed Bar

Combining British Classics and Real-Time Interactive Technology

The Traders Club is a commercial bar renovated from an old house, designed by Tien-Wun Li and Yi-Jen Li. Inspired by the New York Stock Exchange, the design utilizes arc shapes to enhance the visual height and hide the beams and columns. The space offers a range of seating designs for different uses, creating social gathering and interaction. It becomes a place where young investors can exchange stock information at night time.

To overcome the low height and rough beams and columns of the old house, the concept of the curved counters of the New York Stock Exchange is applied. The ceiling combines curved style and mirror design to extend the visual height. Beams and columns are strategically positioned to define different functional areas and seating forms. The open wine cabinet in the bar area follows the line and shape of the beams and columns, becoming a visual focus in the space.

The Traders Club solves the problem of insufficient space height by introducing curved ceilings and mirror faces to extend the visual height. Multiple columns are used as a hierarchical division of functional areas, creating a sense of openness and privacy. This allows for flexible use of the space, accommodating different events and specific consumer groups.

In response to different social needs, events, and commercial benefits, the Traders Club incorporates real-time digital technology. Around 40 seats are planned with an open bar area in the center. Functional areas are isolated by beams and columns, creating multiple levels of use. For example, the station area and a single bar promote interaction and conversation between customers, enhancing customer group cohesion and exchange of information.

The Traders Club project was completed in January 2021 in Taiwan. Extensive research was conducted to maximize the commercial benefit and create different levels of functions that balance open interaction and privacy independence. The design retains the flexibility of movement lines and combines materials like classical trims and titanium to build a high-end luxury atmosphere that matches the image of a commercial elite club.

Compared to general bar designs, the Traders Club focuses on creating interaction between customers and information exchange, increasing community gathering and engagement. It transforms the space limitations posed by beams and columns into different levels of social functions, embracing various forms of investment and financial activities.

The Traders Club draws inspiration from the New York Stock Exchange, incorporating elements of European and American classic style and modern technology. The bar and wall are decorated with faux finishing, creating a low-key and rich base in the space. The green sofa and ring-shaped lighting symbolize the concept of the US stock limit up and gold coin. Real-time digital information updates reveal the time flow of international financial trends.

The Traders Club was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Traders Club stands out for integrating industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and contributing to a better world.
